Principle 01Sourcing solid wood, not throwaway
A piece of furniture built from solid sheesham can last fifty years and be refinished many times. A piece built from particleboard often lives less than ten years before it ends up in landfill. We choose solid wood as our default because the most sustainable furniture is the kind you never have to replace.
Principle 02Responsible suppliers
We buy sheesham from regulated suppliers within Pakistan, prioritising plantation timber over old-growth where the trade is available. Wood is invoiced and traceable to the supplier — we keep records so we can answer questions about provenance.
Principle 03Waste-conscious workshop
Offcuts from large builds become smaller pieces — picture frames, storage boxes, drawer dividers, planters. Sawdust is bagged and sent to a local composting partner. Even the kiln-drying schedule is planned to consume less energy per board-foot.
Principle 04Finishes you can live with
We use low-VOC finishes wherever we can, and we hand-apply rather than spray-bombing every piece. Less overspray, healthier workshop air, and finishes that smell mild — not industrial — when the piece arrives at your home.
Principle 05A tree for every large order
For every large order we deliver, we plant a tree as part of our long-term commitment to giving back more wood than we take. The planting is coordinated with local reforestation partners; we share the count annually.
Principle 06Repair before replace
Every KHASHB piece is built to be repaired. Loose joints can be re-glued, finishes can be re-applied, hardware can be swapped. If your piece needs work years after delivery, talk to us — we want it to live as long as possible.
